Wegovy vs Ozempic: what the two labels actually say
Wegovy and Ozempic contain the same drug, semaglutide, from the same maker. What separates them is what each label approves and how high each one goes.

Has anyone tested Wegovy against Ozempic directly?
No, and there is no reason anyone would. A trial pitting a drug against itself under two brand names would have nothing to measure.
Trials of semaglutide exist in numbers, and both labels are built on them. What none of them does is compare the two products, because the products are the same substance. Any page claiming one beat the other in a trial is describing something that has not happened.

Why the nausea figures look so far apart
44 against 20.3 is more than two to one, for the same drug substance. None of that gap is the molecule.
Three things produce it. Wegovy’s table comes from weight trials carried to 2.4 mg; Ozempic’s comes from diabetes trials that stopped at 1 mg. The people were different — adults being treated for obesity against adults who had lived with type 2 diabetes for around nine years. And the two labels print at different cut-offs, 2 in 100 for Wegovy and 5 in 100 for Ozempic.
Both labels open their tables with the warning that rates from one drug’s trials cannot be set against another’s. It applies to this pair even though the drug is the same.
The dose ceiling is the difference that changes what happens
Ozempic stops at 2 mg a week. Wegovy runs to 2.4 mg, and since March 2026 to 7.2 mg for weight reduction in adults.
So the two products do not overlap at the top of their ranges at all. A person on the highest Ozempic dose is below the recommended Wegovy maintenance dose.
Neither label lets you count them as interchangeable
The Wegovy label says not to use it alongside another semaglutide product, or any other GLP-1 receptor agonist. That rules out taking both.
It also means a switch is a switch, not a top-up. The schedules restart differently, because the two products do not share a set of maintenance doses.
What about “Ozempic vs Wegovy”?
It is the same comparison with the names reversed, so both searches lead to this answer.
Publishing both orderings would mean two near-identical pages competing with each other for one answer. We publish one page per pair and let both phrasings land on it.
