How to store Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro

Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro all belong in the fridge at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). How long they can stay out depends on the brand and the device: 21, 28, 30, 56 days. Check the exact pen, vial or tablet below before using a room-temperature limit.

Compare storage rules by product and device

One row per device, not per brand — find the device you actually have. Giving a brand one number is the most common mistake on this topic: the 21 days quoted everywhere for Zepbound belongs only to its single-dose pen and vial. The multi-dose vial and KwikPen in the same range get 30.

Why these numbers do not transfer

Three definitions of room temperature

Lilly sets a ceiling only for Zepbound and Mounjaro: 30°C (86°F), with no floor. Novo Nordisk sets a band — 15°C to 30°C for the in-use pens, 8°C to 30°C for the single-dose syringes. A cold room breaks the Novo Nordisk rule and passes the Lilly one.

The device changes the answer

Within one brand the windows differ. Zepbound and Mounjaro run 21 days for single-dose devices and 30 for multi-dose. Ozempic runs 56 days for the in-use pen and 28 for the prefilled syringe. Wegovy runs 28, 56, and no limit at all for its tablet.

First use resets what applies

The Novo Nordisk multi-dose pens only give a room-temperature time once the pen has been used. Before that, the label says fridge and gives no window at all. So the generous 56 days describes a pen already in use, not one waiting in a suitcase.

Where the labels state nothing

These devices have no room-temperature time on their label. Any page quoting a number here borrowed it from a different product, and that borrowed number hands you a permission the label withheld.

Ozempic — Single-patient-use pen, before first use

The Ozempic label gives a fridge rule before first use and a room-temperature rule after it. For an unopened pen there is no room-temperature window at all. That is the one clear gap across these four labels, and the reason no figure should be carried over from Zepbound, Mounjaro or Wegovy.

Wegovy — FlexTouch single-patient-use pen, before first use

The label says fridge, at 2°C to 8°C, until you start the pen. It gives a room-temperature time only for after that. As with the Ozempic pen, there is no window before first use — and the 28-day figure elsewhere on this label belongs to a different device.

The same four labels disagree about more than storage

Storage is one place these labels diverge. The dose schedules diverge harder. Wegovy runs to 2.4 mg and then to 7.2 mg for weight. Ozempic is the same drug from the same maker, and it stops at 2 mg.

We read every row on 2026-08-12 from the storage section of that product’s own current label, plus its instructions for use. We carried no figure from one product to another. That includes Zepbound and Mounjaro, which are the same drug from the same maker. They print the same numbers today on two separate labels, and either label can change on its own. Questions readers ask

Do peptides go bad if not refrigerated?

None of the four labels read here describes anything going bad. Each one sets a length of time out of the refrigerator, then directs you to throw the device away when that time runs out. Those are different statements, and only the second one is on a label.

This section reads FDA labels for four GLP-1 brands. A peptide made up by a compounding pharmacy has no label, so no storage figure for one appears here at all.

Do you need a fridge for peptides?

Every injection here says 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). All four brands also allow time at room temperature, and the allowances differ: 21, 28, 30 and 56 days across the set.

The Wegovy tablet is the one exception. Its label gives no refrigerated range at all and keeps it at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).

What is the best way to store peptides?

The way each product’s own label states: the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C, in the original carton, away from heat and light, and never frozen. Every one of these labels names the carton as its answer to light.

The trap is borrowing a number. A window belongs to one brand and one device. An unopened Ozempic pen has no room-temperature window on its label, and Zepbound’s 21 days cannot be lent to it.

Do peptides really go bad after 30 days?

Thirty days is one figure for one kind of device, not a rule. It is what the Lilly labels give a multi-dose vial or KwikPen. A single-dose pen gets 21 days, an Ozempic pen 56 once you start it, and a Wegovy single-dose pen 28.

An opened multi-dose device also carries a dose count. The label directs throwing it away after four weekly doses, even when medicine is left in it.
