How to store Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro

Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro injections are normally stored at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Their time out of the fridge depends on the device and whether it has been used. Wegovy tablets stay at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) in their original bottle.

Three rules to check before taking a dose

Temperature ranges differ

Zepbound and Mounjaro allow up to 30°C (86°F), but must never freeze. Ozempic’s in-use pen allows 15°C to 30°C. Its single-dose syringe allows 8°C to 30°C. Follow the range for your device, even in a cool room.

The device changes the answer

Within one brand the windows differ. Zepbound and Mounjaro run 21 days for single-dose devices and 30 for multi-dose. Ozempic runs 56 days for the in-use pen and 28 for the prefilled syringe. Wegovy runs 28 or 56 days for injections. Tablets have no separate room-temperature day count; the expiration date still applies.

First use starts another clock

The 56-day limit for Ozempic and Wegovy multi-dose pens starts at first use. Returning a used pen to the fridge does not restart that clock. Before first use, these pens require refrigeration; their labels give no room-temperature window.

Devices with no stated room-temperature window

The labels require refrigeration before first use for these pens. They give no allowance for room-temperature storage at that stage. Ask a pharmacist about a pen left out before first use.

Ozempic — Single-patient-use pen, before first use

Before first use, the Ozempic pen must be refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C. Its label states no room-temperature allowance for an unopened pen. The 56-day allowance starts after first use.

Wegovy — FlexTouch single-patient-use pen, before first use

The label says fridge, at 2°C to 8°C, until you start the pen. It gives a room-temperature time only for after that. As with the Ozempic pen, there is no window before first use — and the 28-day figure elsewhere on this label belongs to a different device.

How this table was built

We read every row on 2026-08-12 from the storage section of that product’s own current label, plus its instructions for use. We carried no figure from one product to another. That includes Zepbound and Mounjaro, which are the same drug from the same maker. They print the same numbers today on two separate labels, and either label can change on its own. Where a label contradicts itself, as the Wegovy label does on the FlexTouch range, we publish the storage-section figure and flag the clash on the brand page.

Do peptides go bad if not refrigerated?

These GLP-1 injections can spend a limited time out of the fridge within the temperature range for each device. Once its storage window ends, the label says to discard it. A product left too warm or with an unknown storage history needs a pharmacist’s check.

These limits cover four FDA-approved brands. For a compounded medicine, follow the dispensing pharmacy’s label and storage directions. A brand’s storage allowance does not establish the limit for a compounded product.

Do you need a fridge for peptides?

Every injection here says 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). All four brands also allow time at room temperature, and the allowances differ: 21, 28, 30 and 56 days across the set.

The Wegovy tablet is the one exception. Its label gives no refrigerated range at all and keeps it at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).

What is the best way to store peptides?

Follow the label for the exact product. These injections normally need a fridge at 2°C to 8°C, protection from light and no freezing. Wegovy tablets instead stay at room temperature in their original bottle, protected from moisture.

Check the device as well as the brand. An unopened Ozempic pen has no labeled room-temperature allowance. Zepbound’s 21-day allowance does not apply to it.

Do peptides really go bad after 30 days?

Thirty days is one figure for one kind of device, not a rule. It is what the Lilly labels give a multi-dose vial or KwikPen. A single-dose pen gets 21 days, an Ozempic pen 56 once you start it, and a Wegovy single-dose pen 28.

An opened multi-dose device also carries a dose count. The label directs throwing it away after four weekly doses, even when medicine is left in it.
