Who does the label cover, and who does it not?

Patients aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes are covered. They start where adults start, at 0.75 mg, and the label allows one step up to 1.5 mg. That is the end of the ladder for them. Nothing is established below age 10.

The Trulicity label covers type 2 diabetes and nothing else. It sets no dose for weight, and Lilly never gave dulaglutide a second brand for weight the way it gave tirzepatide one. Drugs@FDA lists dulaglutide under one application and no others, and that application is a biologics license — which is a route with no generic at the end of it.

What if a week gets missed?

The label ties the answer to the gap ahead rather than the gap behind. If the next scheduled dose is at least 3 days off, which is 72 hours, a missed dose can still go in. Under 3 days, the label says to skip it and take the next one on the usual day.

The label allows the weekly day to move as long as the last dose went in 3 or more days before the new day.

What does it come in?

The device matters for dosing, because some of these hold one dose and some hold four.

How long does it take to reach the 4.5 mg dose?

The label does not promise one date. It sets the timing for each step in the schedule below.

Trulicity starts at 0.75 mg and has a 4.5 mg ceiling. Read the published timing beside each row rather than adding the waits into one calendar estimate.

Nothing in the label says a person has to keep climbing. The maintenance choices are listed separately below.

Whether to move up, stay put or stop is a decision for whoever wrote the prescription.

Can you stay on a low dose of Trulicity?

The label allows 0.75 mg for ongoing blood sugar control. Higher doses depend on whether more control is needed.

There is no fixed list of maintenance doses. That does not mean everyone has to leave the starting dose.

The label allows an increase only when more blood sugar control is needed, after at least four weeks on the current dose.

The maximum is 4.5 mg for adults. The dose that suits one person is a decision for their prescriber.

How does the Trulicity schedule compare with other GLP-1 brands?

Do the side effects change as the dose goes up?
