How to reconstitute Semax 10 mg

Put 1 mL of bacteriostatic water into the 10 mg Semax vial. That makes 10.00 mg/mL. A 6 mg dose is then 60.0 units on a U-100 syringe.

That volume is the one that lands the draw on a syringe line, so the reading can be checked by eye. More water makes a weaker mix and a bigger draw. Less water makes a stronger mix and a smaller one. The amount of Semax in the glass never changes. Only the number of marks it takes does.

What is Semax?

Semax is a peptide seven amino acids long, copied from a short stretch of a stress hormone. It carries none of that hormone’s own activity.

Straight arithmetic: concentration = 10 mg ÷ water, and 1 U-100 unit = 0.01 mL. The example column shows the math at 6 mg; it is not a dose recommendation.

Which volume to use is a practical choice rather than a dose. Pick the one that puts your draw somewhere you can actually read it on the syringe. The flags in the last column mark where that fails. “Hard to measure” means the draw is too small to judge by eye. “Won’t fit” means it is bigger than one U-100 syringe holds.

Each row is what that amount draws on a U-100 syringe. 1 mL makes 10.00 mg/mL, or 100 mcg a unit, and 6 mg is 60 units. 2 mL makes 5.00 mg/mL, or 50 mcg a unit, and 6 mg is more than one barrel holds. How many units is a documented dose from this vial?

The table above uses one worked example. These are the published quantities, converted into marks on a U-100 barrel at each water volume for a 10 mg vial. Where a quantity was never studied by injection, the row says so.

Why one of the two rows fails

The published worked amount is large relative to this vial. With more water, one draw exceeds the capacity of a U-100 syringe.

The tighter mix lands the plunger on a printed line with room to spare. On this vial that is the only workable choice, which is a narrower situation than the larger size faces.

One draw, against a course that ran for days

The study used the worked amount daily in two ten-day periods separated by a break. This vial contains one day at that amount.

That arithmetic is worth doing before buying rather than after, because the shortfall is not marginal. Covering the published course at this strength would take a row of vials rather than one.

It is also arithmetic about a product given as nasal drops from a licensed bottle, which this powder is not. The mass matches and nothing else about the two does.

What the smaller strength is actually good for

A vial this size suits somebody who wants to prepare a small amount once, at the tighter of the two volumes, and use it.

It does not suit anyone trying to reproduce what the published studies did. The larger strength sold alongside it is closer to that shape, and the page for it says how much closer.

Neither strength is a pharmacy size. Both come from research suppliers, and the amount printed on the label is the seller’s own claim rather than a figure any regulator checked.

How do you mix it, step by step?

  1. Wipe both stoppers with an alcohol swab and let them dry.
  2. Draw up the water volume you picked from the table.
  3. Let the water run slowly down the inside wall of the Semax vial, rather than jetting it onto the powder.
  4. Swirl gently until it dissolves. Shaking damages peptides.
  5. Store it as the dispensing label directs. What happens after mixing differs by product — some labels direct against refrigerating the mixed solution at all.
