AHK-Cu side effects

No controlled human trial has published a side-effect rate or safety profile for AHK-Cu. Here is what is actually known instead, and what that gap does and does not tell you.

AHK-Cu is three amino acids holding a copper ion. It differs from the better-known GHK-Cu by a single amino acid, and the two get confused constantly. It is sold mainly for hair — thicker growth, less shedding — as powder for injection or in scalp serums.

One study of it exists in the indexed literature, published in 2007. It treated human hair follicles kept alive in a dish, not people. The follicles grew longer, and the cell-death finding the authors chased was not statistically significant. No trial registry lists it.

No completed controlled human trial has shown which dose works for AHK-Cu. There is no study-backed human dosing program to publish. Animal quantities are not converted into a human recommendation.

There is a single indexed study of this molecule and it never involved a patient. It removed hair follicles, kept them alive in a bath, and watched what happened. Everything anyone knows about this peptide in a human context comes from that arrangement.

Tissue in a bath cannot report a side effect

A follicle taken out of the scalp has no bloodstream, no liver and no immune system attached to it. Those are the systems a side effect happens in.

So the study could measure whether hairs got longer and whether cells divided. It had no way to notice a headache, a rash or a change in a blood count, because there was nobody there to have one.

The phrase that misleads is human hair follicles. Repeated without the words in a dish beside it, it reads as though people were treated. They were not.

Even the finding it went looking for did not hold

The authors set out to show fewer cells dying under treatment. Their own abstract records that the reduction was not statistically significant.

The results that did separate were indirect ones: markers of the machinery cells use to decide whether to die. Those describe a mechanism rather than an outcome.

That is worth stating plainly on a safety page. The single study behind this compound partly showed one process in tissue, once, almost twenty years ago.

The copper is a separate question nobody has asked

This is not only a peptide. It carries a metal, and the metal does not clear the way the peptide does.

The body regulates copper tightly, so the risk from exceeding that regulation is a different kind from the risk of a peptide that is simply broken down. Repeated injection is where such a question would arise.

Nothing has been measured about it here, in anyone. So the answer is not reassuring and it is not alarming. It is absent.

Nothing is watching, because there is nothing to watch

Reactions to approved drugs reach a regulator because a prescriber, a pharmacist or a manufacturer is obliged to pass them on. None of those exists here.

The result is not a clean safety record. It is an empty one, and an empty record is what you would expect whether the compound is harmless or not.

Anyone who did react to this would have nowhere to report it and nobody counting. Silence from a system nobody built is not evidence of anything.
