The Wegovy tablet chart

Four strengths and three moves. Each strength runs 30 days, and only the last one is a dose the label says you stay on.

So a full climb takes 90 days. The tablet reaches its settled dose on day 91, and the label names one settled dose rather than a choice of two. It covers heart-risk reduction and weight reduction in adults, and nothing else.

The label adds one line worth knowing before day 31. If a step is not handled well, it says to consider delaying the next one. Slowing down is inside the schedule, not a departure from it.

Every semaglutide tablet, side by side

Three products, one molecule, three different sets of numbers. The label that covers two of them opens by saying the milligrams do not carry across.

“RYBELSUS and OZEMPIC tablets are not substitutable on a mg-to-mg basis.”

That sentence is the first bullet of the dosing section on the FDA label covering both Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets, and it is printed again further down.

Read across a row and the pattern is the same while the numbers never are. All three move on day 31. All three move again on day 61. What changes is what is printed on the tablet.

The last row is why that matters. Two of these are for blood sugar and one is for weight, so a strength on one bottle is not a strength on another in any sense at all.

Both diabetes tablets also say something about their own first month that is easy to miss. The starting strength is not effective for blood sugar control, in the label’s own words. It is there to let the gut settle, not to treat anything.

Semaglutide is not on FDA’s shortage list, checked 14 August 2026. Novo Nordisk has told FDA it is stopping all three Rybelsus strengths, and the notice gives the reason in one line: they are being replaced by Ozempic tablets. That is in FDA’s shortage database, read 14 August 2026.

How is the tablet taken?

Six rules, all of them on the label, and none of them optional. Together they are the thirty minutes a day a tablet asks for that a weekly injection does not.

The quotes above are from the label covering Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets. The Wegovy label asks for the same thing in its own words, so all three tablets share these rules.

Wegovy label: “Take WEGOVY tablets orally once-daily on an empty stomach in the morning with water (up to 4 ounces). Do not take with other liquids besides water. Swallow tablets whole. Do not split, crush, chew or dissolve. After taking WEGOVY tablet wait at least 30 minutes before eating food, drinking beverages or taking other oral medications.”

The thirty-minute wait is the part people trip on. It rules out coffee, juice and every other tablet in the morning routine, not just breakfast.

Is every GLP-1 tablet like this?

No. There is a second GLP-1 tablet now, it is not semaglutide, and it asks for no empty stomach and no thirty-minute wait at all.

Orforglipron, sold as Foundayo, was approved on 2026-04-01 for weight. Its label says to take it with or without food. The rules above belong to semaglutide tablets, not to tablets.

The two also disagree about a missed day. The label quoted above says to skip it. The other one says to take it as soon as you can. Nothing about either bottle tells you which rule is yours.

Does a stronger tablet cost more?

No. Within each brand every strength costs a pharmacy the same, so the ladder is about tolerance rather than about money.

The widest gap in that table is 0.29 percent, on Wegovy. The Wegovy ladder carries 16.7 times as much drug at the top as at the bottom, and costs a pharmacy the same either way.

Two things follow. Climbing the ladder does not raise what the drug costs to buy. And splitting a tablet would save nothing even if the label allowed it, which it does not.

Which strength swaps for which?

The label prints the swaps, and they are the only place a regulator says what one of these tablets is worth in another.

Read the first two rows together with the quote above. The same label that swaps 7 mg for 4 mg is the one saying the two are not substitutable milligram for milligram. Both are true, and the second is why the first has to be printed at all.

What this chart cannot tell you

Four things, and the second is the one that costs people money.

• This is the schedule a label prints, not a schedule for anyone in particular. A prescriber can slow an escalation down, and both labels say to consider exactly that when a step is not handled well.
• The strengths on the three tablets are not one scale. A milligram on Rybelsus, on an Ozempic tablet and on a Wegovy tablet are three different amounts of treatment, and the NDA 213051 label says so in its own first line.
• There is no oral tirzepatide. No Zepbound or Mounjaro tablet is approved or marketed, so no dose chart for one can exist.
• These are dose schedules, not weight-loss results. Use the results pages to see what each trial reported.
