How much is a month of Wegovy tablets?

The self-pay price depends on the tablet strength. A month is one bottle of 30 tablets; the starting-strength price is not the ongoing maintenance price.

Novo Nordisk lets people with government coverage buy at these prices, on conditions. Its terms say you must not ask your insurer to pay you back, and must not count the money toward your deductible or out-of-pocket limit.

At the current listed prices, the first twelve 30-day fills along the label schedule would be one at $149, one at $199, and $299 from the third fill on. This calculation holds the current advertised prices constant; the program can change and it does not predict anyone’s actual refills.

Novo Nordisk defines a tablet month as 30 days and a pen month as 28 days. Twelve tablet fills represent 360 days. Thirteen pen fills represent 364 days. Those are supply-period comparisons, not a prediction of when anyone refills.

What if your insurance covers the tablet?

The savings offer is for eligible people with commercial insurance that covers Wegovy tablets. A savings cap limits how much it pays toward your bill.

For eligible commercial insurance that covers them, the offer advertises as little as $25 for a 1-month, 2-month or 3-month fill. The offer pays up to $100 a month, $200 for two months or $300 for three.

For tablets, each month is one bottle of 30 tablets.

• You have a prescription for a use inside the Wegovy label.
• The offer may be combined with a manufacturer-sponsored automatic eVoucher at participating pharmacies, but not with any other coupon, self-pay discount, certificate, voucher, or similar offer.
• This government-program exclusion does not apply to the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, health exchange plans or state employee plans. Other offer requirements still apply.

The manufacturer program prices on this page were read from the manufacturer’s own terms on 2026-09-01. Those terms say they can change at any time, without notice. The terms themselves state that they expire on 2026-12-31 — after that date, treat every figure on this page as history until it has been read again.

Is the pill cheaper than the shot?

The answer depends on which pen offer applies. The tablet introduction is $149. The qualifying pen introduction is $199 at 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg; the standard pen price is $349 at 0.25–2.4 mg.

Novo Nordisk starts the tablet at $149. The pen’s $199 introduction at 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg has its own limits: New to the Wegovy Savings Offer, with no participation in prior Wegovy savings offers in the past 365 days. First two fills, filled by 2026-12-31. Then $349. The standard pen price is $349 at 0.25–2.4 mg.

Compared with the qualifying $199 pen introduction at 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, the $149 tablet introduction is $50 lower. Compared with the $349 standard pen price at 0.25–2.4 mg, the tablet introduction is $200 lower. Once the listed prices settle at $299 for the tablet and $349 for the standard 0.25–2.4 mg pen, the difference is $50. Each comparison keeps the offer branch and package period visible.

What does a pharmacy pay for the tablet?

CMS publishes what surveyed retail pharmacies report paying to buy each strength. The monthly estimates below are calculated from those unit prices. They are not offers to patients.

The federal weekly file prices a month of the maintenance tablet at $1,302.87 and a month of the 2.4 mg pen at $1,306.58. That is a difference of 0.3 percent between these pharmacy acquisition estimates. These are not prices offered to patients.

A month here means 30 days, one tablet a day, which is the schedule on the label. The per-unit figures are CMS’s; the monthly figures are ours, from that arithmetic.

Same strength, different brands and uses

Novo Nordisk now sells semaglutide tablets under two applications at the same strengths. The Wegovy bottle and the Ozempic bottle both come in 1.5 mg and 4 mg. They differ in application and in approved use, and the federal file prices them apart.

In this snapshot, the Wegovy estimates are 31 to 31 percent higher than the Ozempic estimates at matching strengths. The records do not explain the price difference. Matching milligrams also does not make these products interchangeable.

What this number is not

• It is an acquisition cost, not a patient price. What you pay is set by your plan, your pharmacy and any manufacturer program you qualify for, and none of those are in this file.
• CMS prices these products per milliliter or per tablet. Any monthly figure on this site is our arithmetic, based on the package size from the product’s own label. It is labeled as derived wherever it appears.
• Wholesalers, pharmacy benefit managers, plans and manufacturers settle further amounts between themselves that are not public. A difference between what a pharmacy pays and what anyone is charged is not evidence of wrongdoing, and this site does not present it as one.
• Each row carries its own effective date, and CMS marks whether the figure came from the latest survey or was carried forward from an earlier file. Both are printed rather than averaged away.

How do the semaglutide tablets differ?

Wegovy, Ozempic tablets and Rybelsus contain semaglutide. They differ in strengths and approved uses. This table covers semaglutide, not every oral GLP-1.

Foundayo prices are covered separately. Foundayo contains orforglipron, a different oral GLP-1. Its FDA label identifies it as a tablet for oral use.

• Rybelsus. Novo Nordisk has told FDA it is stopping all three strengths. FDA’s shortage database carries the notice and gives the reason in one line: they are being replaced by Ozempic tablets.
• Ozempic tablets. Ozempic tablets share an application with Rybelsus but have different strengths. The date shown here is the marketing start recorded in FDA’s drug code directory, not an approval date.
• Wegovy tablets. A separate application from both the Wegovy shot and the Ozempic tablet. It is the only oral semaglutide approved for weight, and it goes to a strength neither of the others reaches.

Is there a Zepbound or Mounjaro pill?

The Zepbound and Mounjaro records here list injections, not tablets. Foundayo is Lilly’s oral GLP-1, but it contains orforglipron rather than tirzepatide.

These brand names are not interchangeable. An online product described as a tirzepatide pill should not be treated as a Zepbound or Mounjaro product.

It matters because sellers online advertise a tirzepatide pill anyway. Whatever the packaging says, such a product is neither Zepbound nor Mounjaro. The page on what a compounded copy is, and is not, sits on the compounded tirzepatide page.

What is the Wegovy tablet approved for?

The tablet has its own approved uses under NDA 218316. Read the tablet’s label rather than assuming it has every use approved for the shot.

The Wegovy tablet comes in 1.5, 4, 9 and 25 mg. It is taken once a day, on an empty stomach, with water. The label starts with 30 days each at 1.5, 4 and 9 mg, followed by 25 mg once daily as the maintenance dose. The tablet covers only two of the four approved uses: heart risk reduction, and weight reduction in adults.

The shot also covers weight reduction from age 12 and noncirrhotic MASH with liver fibrosis. The tablet covers neither. If your prescription names one of those, the tablet’s label does not cover it, and the savings offer asks you to attest that your prescription sits inside the label.

Does swallowing it remove the risk of getting the dose wrong?

A tablet does not require measuring a syringe draw, but dose and timing errors are still possible. Adverse-event reports cannot establish which device is safer.

In our FDA report analysis, dose-handling terms account for 30% of Zepbound reports of Zepbound reports and between 0.0% and 8.2% of Rybelsus reports of Rybelsus reports. The Rybelsus figure for taking the wrong amount is below 2.1% of Rybelsus reports. These are different products and reporting populations. The figures do not isolate the effect of a tablet, pen or vial.

Read those as bounds, not rates. A term outside a drug’s twenty-five most-reported carries no exact count, so the study gives an upper limit instead. That is what the ranges are. FDA’s data has no denominator, so a count is not an incidence and a report is not proof the drug caused anything.

Does Medicare cover the Wegovy pill?

For eligible Bridge participants, Medicare lists Wegovy injection or tablets at $50 a month. Eligibility and plan rules still apply.

Medicare lists the covered drugs by name and by form. For Wegovy it names both: Wegovy (injection or tablet). That names both dosage forms. Zepbound is listed only in the KwikPen form.

The program runs from 2026-07-01 to 2027-12-31. Two things inside it cost money and are easy to miss.

• The Part D deductible does not apply, and no part of the $50 counts toward your out-of-pocket limit.
• There is no low-income subsidy on it, so people who get help with drug costs may pay more here than under their plan.
